New host, same web address
Well, the blog is back up and running after moving to a new hosting provider. Let me know if you see any glitches. I’m no longer supporting older rss URLs, so if you can’t see this message, you should update your rss feed URL. ![]()
I had to move my WordPress blog to a new host recently too, and though both offered MYSQL databases, and I regularly backed up those databases, I found it impossible to restore the database without destroying the blog.
So I started over fronm scratch.
How do you know which check boxes to click in phpMyAdmin to back-up or restore your blog’s data? I used to just check them all assuming this meant I was “backing everything up”. But evidently that’s not how it works.
I don’t get why a backup should be such a big and complicated deal. I think Wordpress ought to have the feature integrated into it’s own Admin interface and it should be a one-button matter. Obviously WordPress can post to the database or else none of our information would ever be saved, so why not let us restore our whole blog via the Admin Panel?
Your thoughts? What was moving like for you? Who’s your current host? Like them? Blah blah blah.
